So ! Here's some over-the-top nuttiness !
I emailed Capt.Hy about Heroes Season 2 on DVD & Season 3 debuting soon . . plus how I missed being able to check the forrestcrow thread. "But your fetching & pasting it here would be crazy" ---> so of course he did that !! ( Well, he sent it to me, I'm the paster here ! )
If anyone wants the full thread as reference, have at it ! If not, just "add at the end" and ignore these miles of memories.
( It's interesting yet creepy how my posting-style from then shows that I'm always expecting to get jumped on for perceived "weirdness", thereby producing a nervous undercurrent, full-filling the cycle and all . . . . )

"Heroes">Season 2 [Spoilers Assumed] Post by bigstoopid on Sept 2, 2007, 4:31pm Rewatching the season on the DvD set is , of course : more fun / more rewarding / and deeper into the textures & arc of it all. But, if anybody else chimes in here , I'll start by sayin' it's virtually a flawless show & that one of my favorite aspects is all the 'payoffs'. Unlike other serials where, apparently, mysteries are dragged out for seasons & seasons, characters here actually tell each other stuff. They share revelations . . . and the payoffs in this emotional yet damn-cool series can come 10 to 12 per ep. I just watch the astounding ep "Company Man" so admire my restraint !! Yeah, I'm holding my breath that they don't fall prey to stunt-casting or guest-directoritis in this 2nd season too much, but my faith is strong so far. Hope I don't attract too many uninformed 'haters' now !
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by katie on Sept 2, 2007, 4:35pm never seen it, but i'll be watching the episodes Kristen is in coming up. That I am looking forward to, though I've never watched a single frame of the series. i have nothing against it, i just haven't seen it
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by kenhunt on Sept 2, 2007, 4:44pm The story is good. The writing and story arcs are intriguing...but... The acting sucks. The dialogue is terrible. And some of the episodes are downright lousy: the finale is a good example. Will I watch it if its on? Sure. Will I watch it as regularly or with the same devotion as Lost? No.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by mightyjack on Sept 2, 2007, 5:35pm I disagree with the above complaints. I enjoyed the dialog, most of the acting was top notch. It was one of the few shows I actually watched on TV. For me, there wasn't a clunky episode in the bunch, though their were clunky moments. The big fight at the finale was pretty weak and needed more big, bad action and intrigue. It wasn't staged real well either. It took Hiro too long to get to Sylar, who'd always reacted quickly before. But aside from that, It's my favorite show right now. My favorite hero was Hiro, the man made me laugh.

so many times too ! Thanks Mighty Jack, I don't tend to be a real 'judgemental' fan of Anything I like, MST included. Underwhelmed sometimes sure, but never a callous Mr.Picky. I will agree that the only set of scenes that seemed off ( & we'll see if they add up better as I get there DvD-wise ) are also the finale . . as you said. but for me, it was because I'd seen an interview w/ Kring where he said the end was like a $90,000,000 dollar movie in itself , thereby setting up my expectations . . . you know, where the whole season was pointing them anyway ! But 98% of the time ?, boy !, you'd think we'd have run out of new dramatic twists or even original premises by now . . but ho no ! And like I said, this damn show ain't afraid to evolve !!
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by kyrieeleison on Sept 2, 2007, 6:52pm Yeah, I felt like the finale was a little anti-climactic... it was like, all that build-up, and they just what - stab Sylar? Also, I still laugh at the fact that they revealed HRG's name... and it was Noah. I literally fell out of my chair laughing when he said it, and the rest of my family looked at me weirdly. Whatever. (I mean, come on - Noah? It's a nice name, but that's just it... it's too nice. It was cooler when they never said his name.) I adore "Heroes." I watched it religiously all season - and had fun sharing conspiracy theories with one of my managers at work, since he loves it too... the only thing is that I get so into the episodes... and then they end rather abruptly with "To Be Continued..." and I'm stuck waiting for another week (or six). Cliffhangers suck.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by trumpysmagicsnout on Sept 2, 2007, 7:16pm i liked it. Be interesting to see what the Rifftrax is like.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by modcitygun on Sept 2, 2007, 10:02pm I got sucked into it about a third of the way through the season and couldn't stop watching. Went the whole iTunes route and caught up as quickly as I could. The dialog can be a bit clunky, but the actors really do a pretty good job selling it. Jack Coleman and Zachary Quinto do a great job at playing mysterious, shifty and in Quinto's case, evil characters. The first season itself was a blast to watch, but certain episodes do stand out far above some of the weaker ones. Company Man was one of the best episodes of dramatic television I've seen in a long time on the networks and obviously the highpoint of the season. The finale and its leadup were very good, but I expected more. But like every episode in the first season, it just left me wanting more. Bring on the second season.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by bigstoopid on Sept 2, 2007, 10:38pm Yo all who proclaim fandom , Get the blasted 1st Season set, lemme' know how many go on 3 to 4 ep binges ! It all really gels that much more, well, as any rewatch tends to, but even better w/ such an, again, evolving show.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by mrsphyllistorgo on Sept 3, 2007, 2:46pm I adored Heroes and can't wait for the second season! But I'm not buying the disc set, at least not for a while. One, I'm saving money for the wedding, and two, and more importantly, I refuse to let this show, like some shows I've watched in the past, take over my ENTIRE life. I'm glad they have the website and comic book and all, but I've never visited it, for the simple reason that it's A TV SHOW. I want to watch it, not marry it. I resent being told that some things on an episode make "more sense if you visit the website." I shouldn't have to research A TV EPISODE! If it doesn't make sense within the confines of the story you are telling on screen, you need to rewrite and rework your concept, not assign me homework. Whew, that was a bit of a rant. But I watch a lot of TV--Heroes, House, Supernatural... and all of them tend towards this "join our fun time full time occupation cult media package!" trend, and I just don't have the time. It's hard enough watching and than running to Television Without Pity to read the recaps. Bend time? That's cool.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by bigstoopid on Sept 3, 2007, 3:34pm Damn dear, Ain't you eloquent ! And I say that seconds after responding to your personal mail about MY reply to your equally perceptive rant ! ( got that ? ) I was comin' here anyway, to say : Having ridden the entire season w/ The Box Set since Tuesday, I wash away what I agreed with here above. The finale is note-for-note per-freakin'-ECT. Every character gets the Right moments, and if people think it ( or Voldemort's demise ) were 'anticlimatic', they've been primed by the 12,000 shows, movies, or eMagazine-eHit-eStunts that have installed the push-buttons of "get away from , you Bitch !' type moments. ( well, the retreads since ) . The only points of Heroes that seemed to stretch out a bit , like Hiro's feeling he's failed and 1 or 2 others, were largely due to the networks' mid-season insistence on wedging in an extra, unplanned episode. Go ahead, force a painter to incorporate a sudden extra section of canvas when he's 2/3 rds done . . just might throw off the balance a bit. ... `at's enough fer' now ! ....

It's not my preferred method of watching a TV show, but it completely saved me on catching up before the last part of the season started up. Now NBC is apparently dropping their shows from iTunes, which I think is crazy. Using iTunes is what got my officially hooked on Heroes and The Office and obviously a lot of other people did the same thing. If I were NBC, I'd rethink that one.

Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by kyrieeleison on Sept 4, 2007, 9:24am I get my episodes from nbc.com/Heroes since we don't have cable here at school, and it's pointless to try and get a signal using antennae. mrsphyllistorgo, I totally agree with why you won't buy the DVD set, except I'm not saving up for a wedding, but I am a college student, and I could much better spend the $45-50 on groceries or books as opposed to a DVD set I probably won't have time to watch anyway... maybe I'll wait a while to get the set and watch it a few years down the line and subject my future children to it the way my dad does when he wants to watch his Star Trek DVDs.

As Joel said, the right people will get it. Everyone else, look it up. Unless it's just plain bad storytelling, in which case there's no excuse for that.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by Captain Hygiene on Sept 15, 2007, 12:20pm I finally got through watching the series since last week. I'll write some more thoughts about it later, but my initial thoughts were that it was a great show. It has some flaws, but it still entertained me very, very well. I like how it initially started off as something more like the movie Unbreakable, almost an ordinary drama about normal people who discover they have powers, rather than a full-fledged comic book-style adventure. I wonder how many people are fans of the show and that movie. I feel that it developed well into more traditional territory later in the season, while still maintaining interesting story arcs for the most part. Hiro was a great character. He made me laugh the most (some of the mannerisms he had really remind me of people I know in real life), and he also showed good character development through the season. Peter would have to be my overall favorite character, though. I liked him before I found out he was more or less the central character (if there is one). The compassion he showed, and the fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself (at least according to what he believed at the time) were well portrayed, and he is just a really likable character. So, overall, I thought there were some flaws, but I really enjoyed what I saw. I think it's done a better job than Lost at this point, in terms of providing payoffs for the story arcs. Hopefully it can sustain itself this coming season.

Yeah, I mean more the bad storytelling thing. If you don't get a riff, you can look it up but it doesn't ruin the episode for you. But it drives me crazy when a huge plot twist turns up out of nowhere that's not supported by anything you've seen on screen , and it turns out that it was developed in the online comic and than just plopped into the show. No, no, no. Either reintroduce the threads ON SCREEN or have completely separate stories online that have nothing to do with the storyline on screen, but NOT BOTH. I never bothered with Lost for this reason--by the time it had really caught on, it was already so complicated there was no reason for me to try to start watching it, and even if I'd rented the first season, they were including all this crap they'd developed on their website. I don't have this much time to spend doing research so I can understand what's going on on your TV show. Excuse me, were we supposed to do some reading for this movie?
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by mightyjack on Sept 15, 2007, 1:07pm Nice write up Cap. I too am unsure of the flaws though. I know the end fight had some holes but other than that? Mrs. P - I just went on the webiste to see what you were talking about. And holy crap, there's like 50 chapters to wade through! I never watched the show and felt like I was missing anything. But now I wonder if I did miss anything important. Damn it, I don't wanna study for my show.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by Captain Hygiene on Sept 15, 2007, 1:27pm I agree, I was going to say that I don't feel like I've missed anything just from the show itself. If I can keep it that way, that's fine. I don't mind if they introduce more stuff in the comic as long as I can understand the show just fine. I didn't even know there *was* a comic until I was almost through the series. As far as flaws, the ones I've thought of have been alluded to - the acting isn't always the greatest (although I'm happy with it, and I don't think the flaws are in any of the main characters). The dialogue is sometimes a bit silly, but I can forgive that because of the nature of the show - dialogue in superhero comics is not typically great literature. The main problems I have with the plot of the show is that I think there were ways to get around the final showdown between Peter and Sylar. I don't really think that it seemed too contrived to ignore them, though, some plot holes are present in pretty much any piece of drama. I also am not quite sure how to feel about the epilogue, with Hiro's time jump. Next: My favorite episodes (Hint: they both involve big jumps in time)
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by mightyjack on Sept 15, 2007, 1:46pm Looking over the comics, I didn't see any major plot points. At least in the first 5 issues. There was more fleshing out of the characters. But nothing so deep that it would take away from the show if you never read them.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by kyrieeleison on Sept 15, 2007, 2:08pm Or, you can do what I did - go to www.heroeswiki.com and read synopses. The first one is here.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by Captain Hygiene on Sept 15, 2007, 5:19pm I would like to add to my list of flaws that Ted Sprague (radiation guy) looks a bit too much like one of the cavemen from the Cavemen TV show.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by mightyjack on Sept 15, 2007, 5:30pm LOL - and good Wiki, while I prefer seeing the whole story unfold in comic book form. That's a nice quick way to get the jist of it. And it was nice to see a little backstory on those guys Niki buried in the desert.

I'm kind of the opposite. Because I so seldom watch any TV shows, I usually poo-poo the idea of a new hit show (like I did for Lost and Heroes) and only occasionally get up the effort to check one out. In some cases, it turns out great. Anyway, as promised, some of my favorite episodes. Many of the episodes had classic moments in them, often from the discovery or use of a superpower, such as Peter doing his best to save Claire and gaining something new in the process, to using his newfound powers to fight Sylar but ultimately failing, and so on. The two episodes that stuck out a lot to me, though, were the two involving larger leaps in time - "Six Months Ago" and "Five Years Gone." "Six Months Ago" was one the episode that made me sit back and think, "Ah, so that's what happened" a number of times. Where Sylar came from, how Hiro was already doing his thing, and so on. It really made me understand some of the characters and events better, and came at the perfect time in the series, when a lot of the characters were becoming meaningful and well thought-out. "Five Years Gone" was another great episode. Alternate universes or timelines are common in science fiction and can make for great plots (e.g., "Mirror, Mirror" was one of my favorite episodes in the original Star Trek series), but they can also easily be taken to extremes and just become silly or incredibly convoluted. This episode does a great job, though. It shows a frightening dystopia, of what happens in a possible future. I love the way some of the characters have become hollow shells or opposites of what they used to be, before some of them decide to do what they can to possibly erase their present and make it better. The plot was simple enough to not seem convoluted, but meaningful enough to provide insight into the characters. By this time in the season, the characters were developed well enough to make some of their future selves seem shocking. Both classic episodes in my opinion, amid a whole bunch of other good stuff.
Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by modcitygun on Sept 17, 2007, 2:43pm The season was by no means perfect, but it was as entertaining a watch as I've had in a long time. A few points to ponder that a few others have mentioned: As good as some of the performances are, there are some that are downright cringe-worthy. This could be paired with the dialog problem in some cases, because some lines aren't going to sound right no matter who is reciting them. Some of the best performances are Clair and Mr. Bennet. The scene with them on the bridge at the end of Company Man is tear-you-heart-out good, but the same could be said for most of the rest of that episode. They do keep the plot moving along, but they stumble occasionally. I haven't watched it a second time (and I do own the DVD), but the season finale came up a little short for me. While the lead-up was great, there were just some moments that didn't work for me, including the Hiro versus Sylar resolution at the end. I just didn't find it convincing. Also Jessica walking away after Peter tells her that he's "got it" during the final fight. The beats were all there, I just thought it looked...not as good as it could have. But I was really, really excited for the finale. They would have had to reinvent the wheel for me to not feel a little let down. My favorite episodes? Company Man (the best by far), Collision, Hiros and Homecoming off the top of my head. My only real other complaint is the way NBC treats this show. I mean, what was it, two months off in the middle of the season? That only ticked viewers off waiting for it and allowed them to develop their own theories on what would happen. That's a formula for disappointment, in my opinion. Sounds like Lost is getting it right with the way they're doing it - running it straight through with no mid-season breaks, I believe. That's smart. Feels like a long time since I've prepped myself for Monday nights. I'm going to have to get the recorder ready, as I work Monday nights. Drat.

Essentially, it's just too short. It has some great lead-ins, with a number of people involved, but the actual battle is short in comparison to the slight dilemma afterwards regarding Peter exploding.

Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? Post by modcitygun on Sept 21, 2007, 1:48pm I have to work Monday nights, so I use this device called a VCR. Re: any true fans of "Heroes" ? I certainly watch it live , suffering thru the rampant breaks. Plus, there's nothing like that sense ( rarer & rarer ) that you're part of a coast-to-coast group , watching it together . . just before 60% of them go online to tear it apart !

Besides, if I watch it at work while both of the managers and I are there, it's a lot of fun. Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by Captain Hygiene on Sept 24, 2007, 9:04pm SPOILERS!(duh!) Alright, some okay stuff and some very good stuff in this episode. I will break it up by subplot, I guess: I didn't like the plot at Claire's new school all that much. I tend to dislike the show most when it steers closest to more generic teen drama, and that's what the cheerleading squads kind of lead to. I hope that the Bennet story doesn't become The Adventures of Average Family - it seemed that way for a bit, but looked like it was on its way up by the end. I'm more interested in Hiro's time-travel plot now than I was at the end of the last season. Will Hiro become the true samurai hero that he idolized as a child? The introduction of the two new characters, Maya and her brother (name?) was good. I'm really curious to find out what she can do. Kaito Nakamura (Hiro's father) had a good subplot as well. I'm interested to see who showed up at the end, and if he'll be in more episodes. I thought Molly and Matt's subplot showed a lot of promise. It will lead in well to the newer enemy character. Finally, I was glad to see Nathan. My expectations for his character were pretty much on target. The end of the episode, with Peter's introduction, was great. I can't wait to see next week's episode. Hope I haven't forgotten anything major!

Overall, I enjoyed it, but I had mixed feelings (as in above post). It seemed more like a middle-of-the-season episode than a brand spankin' new premiere.

Hiro becomes his own Hero ? - expected , but will they pull a twist ? The Honduras twins ? -- I read today that their "power" works "in tandem" All in all , I had to relax & fight the "wave of expectation" from my own hype , and all the outer hype. Oh ! , and "The Company" has a King Midas powered member ?! coolness !
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by Captain Hygiene on Sept 24, 2007, 9:23pm Was the King Midas guy on at all last season? He really looked familiar, but I can't remember if it was from the show, or from something else. Edit: Quote:

I can say that, so far, two of my biggest questions have been answered, regarding: - Nathan Petrelli - The casting for Takezo Kensei
yeah ? and these answered questions were .... ?
Earlier, I meant to ask whether Nathan could simply have dropped Peter at some point in the atmosphere and flown further away to save himself rather than dying, as implied by the finale. I forgot to ask it, though, so I never found out if anyone thought the same. As far as casting goes, I found out that the actor playing Takezo Kensei was a caucasian. I had no idea why he would play a samurai, and wondered if they would somehow try to pass him off as Japanese. I had a big laugh when his face was revealed.
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by bigstoopid on Sept 24, 2007, 9:28pm Toblosky ? Not on Heroes previously. I chiefly remember him as the guy Bill Murray knocks off the sidewalk so many times in "Groundhog Day" ! but I think he's always been working since.
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by Captain Hygiene on Sept 24, 2007, 9:29pm Haha! That's exactly what I was trying to remember! How awesome is that? I haven't even seen that movie in at least three or four years.

I've sort'a been expecting the same. Who do we think Nathan saw in the mirror , all scarred up ? I assumed Peter , if it was himself.... well Nathan's nor known for regeneration !

My first thought was that it was himself. Unfortunately I couldn't rewind to get a better look! I'm fairly sure it wasn't him. I think Peter is the most likely possibility, and that it was just an invasive memory or something. What really threw me was the use of the mirror, which automatically made me think of Jessica/Niki, but I can't really imagine a scenario where it's anything but a memory.
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by bigstoopid on Sept 24, 2007, 9:56pm I miss Issac ( Mr. Ee-Zak ! ) I mean , he fully played his part & his destiny seemed "correct", but it'll be strange w/out his paintings. However ! - Peter and/or Sylar could still whip a "vision in oils" for us.

The same as I thought the finale was fine n' great , I also think this premiere didn't need to follow expectations and be full of fireworks. We've had too many years of movies & shows wowing us where we've been trained to expect them to . The finale > Turns out on the scripted page , there were buses flying & more. But more then budget , there were too many character beats ( well doled-out ) to also incorporate too much "whizz-bang" ( it was my 2nd / DVD viewing of the finale that brought it together for me ). Season 2 debut > Still way too early to say . . they're "laying pipe' & balancing a lot. But the combined wave of my own buzz , & media attention ( plus ours too ) have me holding off on any clear take on it. I'd rather let an episode or two follow before any . . . . well I don't ever really grade things , so . . . ah ! the hell with this , it's too soon !
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by modcitygun on Sept 25, 2007, 2:03am I don't wait for a lot of season premiers, but I thought this led into the new season pretty well. A lot of nifty questions and reintroductions. A few points I liked: The Hiro storyline. I really didn't like this whole angle when last season's finale aired, but it suddenly became more interesting with the character of Kensai. Looks like Anders is having fun in the role. He seems to play well off Oka. The Bennet family dinner conversation. Lots of cool tension here that came off as comedic for the audience at moments. What is the other half (mom and Lyle) of the family thinking? For some reason, I want to know more about those two. The Taiko Nakamura and Angela Petrelli storyline. Things seem to be closing in on the old guard. Who are the nine remaining after the previous three deaths? And who's after them? Great story for an important plot point. Molly's nightmares. Who is haunting her dreams? Apparently, he's worse than Sylar. Now a few criticisms... The character Molly bothers me. She seems to be a bit ham-fisted in her delivery. She delivers in certain scenes (talking during her nightmares), but a lot of the time it doesn't work for me. The Nathan/Peter storyline. This could end up being very cool, but it seemed removed from what was going on in the episode. No Sylar. No Nikki/Jessica. But this could be seen as a good thing, because I just want to know what they're up to more. In all, I can say I'll be back next week. I want to know what happens.
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by Captain Hygiene on Sept 25, 2007, 10:59am Essentially, my problems had to do with the pacing for a season premiere. It seemed like a lot of time was spent on Claire's new life at school that could have been conveyed just as well in less time. That would leave more time for the Molly/Matt scenes - Molly's nightmares reintroduce the new enemy, and I thought those scenes were good, but they seemed almost as short as a teaser or preview. I think a bit more development there would have brought a better sense of urgency or danger to the first episode of the season.

Yes , but see how you're still chewin' on that ? How it's still hanging there in your mind ? We know many TV & filmakers will hold back a bit on "sewing up every stitch" & let our minds race about , attempting to complete or unravel aspects. Plus , they had "urgency or danger" to spread around in this season kick-off , what with the suggested peril of "The 9" , and the sudden fears of the remaining "old guard". Shows like this are an insanely tricky balancing act , don't `cha know ! ooh ooh ! Did anybody spend a second thinking , as Noah put his CopyWorld manager in his place , "Hey ! , what was that move ? . . gasp !...we're about to see Noahs' power ?? " Nah , just his covert training coming in handy.
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by mrsphyllistorgo on Sept 25, 2007, 2:21pm ****SPOILERS**** I did have some issues with Matt and Nathan suddenly being divorced--especially Matt. Wasn't he thrilled to be having a baby with his wife the last time we saw them together? What happened? I hope they cover this a bit during the season, especially as his future child very probably has a power, and will need protection. I can understand Heidi "Mein Fuhrer, I can walk!" Patrelli not wanting "I Hate Shaving But I Loves Booze" Nathan around her and the kids, particularly since she's probably thrilled about walking again and he's clearly not celebrating much of anything. ( By the way, what do his constituents think of his new look and schedule? Shouldn't he be preparing to take office? Did he resign after Peter's "death"? ) But it still seems awfully abrupt to dump spouses like that, with no real reaction from the characters. Perhaps in time....

As far as Matt goes, I figured it was mentioned previously and I forgot it. Apparently not though. Also, I suspected that Nathan was "assumed dead" or MIA by the public. Presumably we're primed for a flashback episode, similar to the six months ago we saw during the first season?
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by bigstoopid on Sept 25, 2007, 6:39pm To the previous 2 posters. I did read some-damn-where that ep #8 ( possibly) is titled "4 Months Ago". so they're truly sowing the seeds & getting us full of questions !
Re: Fans of "Heroes" >Season 2's On ! Post by mightyjack on Sept 25, 2007, 7:19pm Spoilers - but hell, do we really have to say this, shouldn't that be a given in a thread like this? Overall the pacing and vibe of it all felt a little disjointed. Dislikes - Clair's stuff didn't intrigue me at all. Molly was too precocious and bothersome (I hope the show doesn't start suffering from "Wesley Crusher" syndrome) - George Takai.... NOOOOOO! Likes - When they'd amp up the mystery (who are the other 9, Who is the killer) wondering how Hiro and that "S" like symbol plays into the future. The twins and what they are about. A show like this you gotta give it time to unfold. Right now it seems like they've got unrelated threads drifting all over the place and I'm interested to see how they all tie together (if at all) at the end.

Wise words there , man. Come 9 pm Monday and my top popped , and spent that hour into the next 24 foamin' down my face. I'm thinking it's what Nathan would/should have looked like after the "exploding man" incident. Now, why he looks normal (well, human - I'm not exactly enjoying the Grizzly Adams-lite look...) is a mystery. I heart HRG - heck the whole Bennet (oops, Butler) family. It was so awesome to see him lay the smackdown on that weaselly manager. The family dinner was some seriously repressed acting - so cringeworthy. It's nice to see that Sandra seems to have recovered from all that the Haitian did to her - it's only a matter of time until she starts asking questions, and a great time will be had by all (viewers, that is). It'll be interesting to see how a lot of things pan out (the assassinations, Hiro/Kensei, Peter, Nathan, Molly and the Badder-Than-Boogeyman, Maya/Alejandro, etc.). Right now, it's hard to have opinions on a lot of it, because we don't know much yet. This should be the real tagline for the show: "Wait until we tie up all the loose ends." When the show is setting stuff up, it can drag a bit, but when it all starts to come together, it's all kinds of awesome. Also, as to the assassinations, I think Kaito may not be dead. I know there was blood on that rooftop, but remember - two people went over. There is a slight possibility that he is just unconscious from the fall, and that the other guy is dead. I don't know... I love just having random theories about the show. Can't wait until tomorrow (that's when the next episode will be online for my viewing pleasure)!
Re: "Heroes">Season 2 [Spoilers Assumed] Post by modcitygun on Oct 3, 2007, 12:12pm Finally got around to the second episode. Much like the first season, there does seem to be a lot of loose ends. They did a pretty good job of taking care of that as the first season progresses. Hopefully they'll be able to do the same here. I liked the effect they used for the Haitian's mind wipe of Suresh. That's that classic Heroes spookiness that made the Haitian character so much fun to begin with. And look who he meets up with in the end. Nice. Claire and her toe. As cheesy as this show can be at times, everyone in the room I was watching with gave a collective "don't do it" under their breath. The resolution was another one of those fun moments the show just seems to pull out of nowhere. And frankly, I like where they're going with Claire. She's asking sensible questions, and I like how they keep involving Chandra Suresh's book. This storyline is actually plausible to me. Matt meeting up with Angela Petrelli. The look on her face when she realizes what Matt is doing is chilling. I'm lukewarm on the twins and their border run, but I haven't tossed it out yet, either. Her power is creepy as heck - and his is ambiguous. The healer trying to help her was pretty creepy, too. Hiro's storyline is borderline silly, but they made it more interesting with what they revealed about Kensei at the end. I also like that Hiro seems to have a pretty good grip on his powers now. Ah. The box. Gotta keep Peter's memory surpressed or he'll just become too powerful. I'd like to know what happen in the last moments of last season with Peter and Nathan. And my biggest complaint: The previews from last week showing Sylar and Nikki when there was nothing to be seen of them anywhere in this episode. Save them up for some later plot points, fine, but don't set us up and then leave us hanging. Some of us like those characters! They're holding my attention. I'll be back next week.

Well I thought he was seeing what he thought he should look like, if he had been with Peter when he exploded. The fact that Nathan is unharmed would suggest he flew Peter up real high then let go thus surviving. Peter survived because of the ability he sponged off Claire.

ah , projection of guilt ! good one BTW , nobody's mentioned . . we saw 2 "power-duplicates" in this ep. The healer who first calls the twin from Honduras "black inside & evil" . . we even got a version of Parkman's sound effect. And Kensei would seem to in Claire's category. Being that Hiro showed up just in time for another pivotal eclipse, Kensei's power has no doubt just been "unleashed" Has anyone else decided that Hiro , regardless of his intentions, go where he's "needed" ?

What just hit me minutes ago , whilst re-reading EW's cover story this week , was . . well , suddenly I saw last night's ep much clearer, & I realized that between The DVD set , the media attention , & hob-nobbin' with you'se guys right here . . . .My buildup to Season 2 was a whole lot like bouncin' a bottle of soda , beer , what-have-you. Come 9 pm Monday and my top popped , and spent that hour into the next 24 foamin' down my face. The buildup gives way to the "norm" ( Norm !! ) and everything I came upstairs thinkin' was captured in MJ's last line there ! as to his first line ? shall I tweak our Thread-Title once more ? ( guess we'll see )
Re: "Heroes">Season 2 [Spoilers Assumed] Post by bigstoopid on Sept 26, 2007, 11:52pm Hey ! . . . wait a' sec ! We never saw Taiko Nakamura's power , did we ? well, then he can't be dead . Yeah , he must'a , like, sent his soul into the closest nearby dog or sumthin' ! Or he is gone, and we'll see plenty of him in illustrative flashbacks . Or Isaac comes back and provides illustrated flash-forwards ? ooh, ooh ! Hiro comes back and finds his actions in episode 5 altered the timeline and his Dad and Mr. I-Zack are . . are . . . The mind reels . . . .

Re: "Heroes">Season 2 [Spoilers Assumed] Post by Captain Hygiene on Oct 1, 2007, 8:48pm I'm liking it a lot so far. I think it does a good job at fixing the problems I had with the season opener by concentrating in more detail on fewer of the plots. And Peter's back!

Haha, that was too long ago for me to remember the actor. But now we have a cliffhanger, with smiles all around. And scissors! And we know what Maya does, and it's quite disturbing!

Hee ! pinky toe arcing away like a clipped nail ! So many moments to love : Hiro's pause while she awaits a kiss , "Get Out Of My Head !!" , . . .

Who do we think Nathan saw in the mirror , all scarred up ?

Re: "Heroes">Season 2 [Spoilers Assumed] Post by Captain Hygiene on Oct 3, 2007, 5:39pm By the way, can Peter bend time and space now, since he was relatively near Hiro for a bit?

ah , projection of guilt ! good one BTW , nobody's mentioned . . we saw 2 "power-duplicates" in this ep.
