Hey ! . . .remember this show ?
I swear the last scene from the previous volume, with President Worf, seems like it ran back in October.
But now . . . I dunno', it seemed a little shallow and pat . . . a little. Granted, they can never have the discovery of Season 1 again . . . and I'm not thrown by the latest batch of traditional wtfs : How is Sylar alive ? / What's with Nathan ?, he seems a bit conflicted / is Noah a company man for someone new now ?! They've been starting off with wtfs since forever, and this seems a worthy batch to slowly unveil, but the overall tone of this ep seemed to lack depth. But I may change that opinion once I'm back in the Heroes swing . . for what may well be the final volume, especially since they're up against "24" now !!

Yeah, I enjoyed it but it wasn't that great of an episode. Certainly not up to the start of the first season or the start of this season's first half.
I'm getting tired of Claire: it sure seems like she's gone through the same story arc over and over: relatives try to keep her out of the way, she hears evil plans, she goes out to fight the badguys, she gets captured...again. She did start to accomplish something this time, at least, but it just felt like the same old same old.
I liked Sylar again, at least seeing him finding out more mysteries about his past and kicking some ass against the government troops. Speaking of which, the best part of this episode was that, not only did they talk about the government rounding up people with powers, they actually showed them tagging and bagging them off to prison camp or whatever. This seemed more disturbing than the glimpses we've seen of it before.

Okay, I haven't read any of this thread (cause I don't wanna be spoiled), but I downloaded the first season of Heroes a few days ago. I have watched the entire thing nonstop, and OMG I LOVE IT.
When my mom gets home I am sooo going to Target to get the second and third seasons, because I am DEAD from the awesome that is this show! ;D

Finished the second season. Soooo slow moving and rather lame. Too much Hiro in feudal Japan, and not nearly enough Sylar! I'm glad the writer's strike put it out of its misery early.
About to watch the fourth episode of season three, and already this is much, much better. The "twists" are becoming more contrived and it's getting harder to suspend my disbelief, but I don't even care. Sylar having a conversation with Claire as he picks at her exposed brain is enough to keep me watching forever, lol.
I love this. ;D

While it is weird to watch someone ingest entire seasons as if they were extended episodes ( which hey !, they are afterall ) it's also fun to have you catch up so darn quick. I wouldn't dismiss the entire 2nd season so easily, altho' they did indeed veer towards losing their way a bit. The creators that is. Do you get the DVD's for Season 2 and see the original end of the first volume where the virus was released ? It really didn't work and I firmly believe that the writer's strike was a good thing in this case, causing them to wrap it earlier and generally force them back on the right path.
And yes, conversational brain-picking was a major peak !

I liked the first half of season three a lot, although as I've said, I don't think season two was that bad - I can spot a lot of areas where I'd make some changes though.
The second half of season three just lost me - I got busy enough with other stuff that I just sort of stopped watching halfway through. I keep meaning to go back and catch up online to see if it was my mental state at the time that made me quit.

Finished the last season of Heroes last night. I really like this show, ridiculous as the premise is.
Hiro and Ando are have the cutest bromance ever, and I always have such a big dumb grin on my face whenever they're onscreen. I'm worried about Hiro and his new nosebleeds though...
For the next season, I'd really like things to sorta get back to normal. I really liked Peter when he was a kind of an anti-Sylar, in that he could take others abilities without killing them. I'm not digging this "I can only take one power at a time now" jazz. I hope he can fix that and we can start to see some epic superhero battles or something.
And if they do not get Sylar out of his Nathan phase like, immediately, I'm gonna be upset. Watching the first nine episodes of season one were like slow torture because their was no Zachary Quinto. I can't deal with an entire story arc without his creepy smile! ;D
My understanding is that filming begins in two weeks or so. I need it to be fall now dammit!

I'm try'na imagine what it's like to go thru all 3 seasons in just a couple weeks ! One big 40 hour movie, or so. Definite pluses like, no summer breaks ! But still, without time to digest each ep, it must blur a bit, no ?

But still, without time to digest each ep, it must blur a bit, no ? Nah, I feel like I was able to properly digest the material. I tended to start my day each day by watching three episodes in a row (so definitely like a movie) and if there was a cliffhanger that dominated my thoughts I might watch one or two more later in the evening. Towards the end I started to take more frequent breaks between binges, but only because I've been trying to watch all the seasons of the original Star Trek at the same time. XD With the exception of waiting for Sylar to show up, I never once felt like this was a chore. There was no race for me to get it done - I was simply so excited for the storytelling that I barreled through them all. My enthusiasm ensured that I was really paying attention, so I was able to absorb all the happenings very well. I'm ready for season four, or Volume Five or whatever they want to call it! In other Heroes-related news: I found this cool YouTube video that's basically a day in the life of Zachary Quinto on the Heroes sets. Its just a really cool short film that is made up of absolutely no video, but 15,000 digital photos. I love it! Favorite part: Zach going into his trailer and emerging as SYLAR. Soooo cool. And scary. But mostly cool.

Cool ! I wrote my last one while working, and it didn't quite capture what I was going for. I didn't mean to suggest that things were "missed in a blur of too much in a short time" . . . more like I was marveling at taking it all in without breaks of a week ( or a summer ), and that, even if there's something about having to wait for resolution or continuation . . . or that spreading it out over years may make it more distinct and give you more time to digest the details of one at a time, doing it in one long "string" sounds appealing in many ways too !
Hey !, I love me a good binge, and certainly got more out of seasons 1 & 2 when the DVDs came out and I went back thru them in 2 or 3 days.

Yeah I get what you're saying. I'm horribly impatient when it comes to things like this - I can't stand having to wait over the summer for my favorite shows to come back on. It's torture!
So yeah, when I have all the episodes at my fingertips and a cliffhanger happens, there is no way I'm going to make myself wait! ;D

So yeah, when I have all the episodes at my fingertips and a cliffhanger happens, there is no way I'm going to make myself wait! ;D It's never the preferred fun, to wait for conclusions. Back when the "campy" Batman series ran on Wednesday and ended with the latest peril, on would come the "same Bat-time, same bat-channel" and that was just for waiting till the next night ! ( Has anyone ever done that since ? . . . Wed & Thurs. ?...Hmm ) That would be the shortest time-frame for waiting. Well . . . I suppose the shortest is actually "c'mon with these commercials already, let's get back to the show !!" That being the shortest, a full summer is always hard to picture getting thru. But then life goes on, you get caught up in other crap, and eventually you're goin' "Hey . . . it's back !" But for me, I'd say the hardest ever by far was walking out of "The Empire Strikes Back", having just seen Han frozen in the carbonite and knowing it was gonna be 3 whole freakin' years till sweet resolution !! The simple memory of this inconceivable endurance has wiped me out over here. *collapses*
