Ok, if this week hasn't been awesome enough, we also got Joel's first blog in a million years this morning! On top of that, he announced the the Christmas movie is Santa Claus Conquers the Martians!!!
I cannot wait to see how this turns out!

Wow, Cool ! . . . I "called it". I'm not usually the "looking for clues & making bets" type, but I couldn't help but notice during the Well-Fed Interview w/ Trace how much he leaned into it. Or how he slyly pointed out what he'd just alluded to : "Christmas Movie" / "Re-riffing" . . . Hey !
This should stir some debate tho' . . . . for one thing, doing a movie from MST without the bots is gonna be weird as it stimulates memories of "The 1st Pass".

Well right now the CT Board is excited about it (as well they should be, it's the team's home forum), but on the other MSTie boards the reactions so far have been decidedly less excited than I expected. Reactions are much more reserved and skeptical about the Titan's ability to pull it off.
Ah well. At least I'm excited about it! ;D

All over the internets Msties have spoken, and it's been a resounding "meh." XD Personally I think it should be fun, though I would rather they did another bad Christmas movie...Santa Claus Meets the Ice Cream Bunny seems like a decent canidate. But on the bright side, we can be certain that there will be NO blood OR incest in this CT episode!
But OMG, I can't believe it's been a year since Joel first announced Cinematic Titanic! I remember RAD posted on forrestcrow, making it a point that we were the first to hear about it. I remember that I posted about my excitement in the topic, the first post I'd made on forrestcrow in months - come to think of it, it's mainly thanks to CT that I met Queenie and Calandra (then Cerrita) and eventually wound up here. I remember feeling pretty smug being the first to tell the MST3K Livejournal Community the news. I remember watching Msties all over the world LOSE their freaking MINDS. Good times. Goooood times. ;D

See, this is where I think us MSTies ended up shooting ourselves in the foot. Since the beginning fans have been hoping for Santa Claus Meets the Ice Cream Bunny, so I kinda think any movie that isn't that one was gonna disappoint people. But on the bright side, we can be certain that there will be NO blood OR incest in this CT episode! No, but there will be Droppo, and isn't that just as bad?

I really, really don't like this movie but I love the MST3k episode. I will be curious to watch how the CT version compares with the classic version. I admit, I am pretty shocked by the choice, but I'm not up in arms about it or anything.

I saw your posts on F-Crow, you're ready for a RiffTrax too !
( funny . . . I can now wander around the "public areas" on F-Crow without cookies or whatever setting off the "Hey !, it's You ! . . Verboten !!" so isn't that a treat . . maybe a trick ?! )

Though now that I think about it, I only mentioned it because I can't really think of any other bad Christmas movies that could be riffed! Except maybe one of those weird Christmas "horror" movies, like Silent Night, Deadly Night - though that one might be too icky even for CT. XD

The trailer is up!
I think this looks amazing. But Joel's "contol panel" is gone, and it makes me a sad panda. Why Joel? It looked so good!
Ah well. I guess it means we can see more of that cute butt of his! Oh wait...

I liked that a lot. I think they will breathe new life into the episode (which, by the way, has been on permanent loan to a former friend for some years now ). Honestly, I think it's the funniest preview I've seen for any of their releases.

The preview looks really good, and I agree with everything that CH posted.

It came in the mail todaaaayyyy!!!! It was awesome! They have new credit pictures too, and they move! It's so cute to see Joel smile. I loved those, even though Joel wasn't wearing his glasses WTF. Solid CT episode though. Funnier than the original, hands down. And I got my autographed Joel card! It looks like he wished me a Merry Christmas on it, but he writes in some bizarre chicken scratch language.

I'm at the point where they've just arrived at the North Pole, and I must denote 2 great lines in succession ! : as the martians slowly exit the ship one-by-one :
Trace's - "I can see why Star Trek went with the transporter beam instead of the ladder"
and, for the 3rd one down the ladder :
Joel's - "Here come the judge, Here come the judge . . . thank you !, another reference from the over 40 collection !" ( it's from Laugh-In and I love every one of `em, like the Carlton The Doorman riff from the Mary Tyler Moore Show spin-off > "Rhoda". I fully love the blend of eras, it still reaches back thru the decades but can be as "fresh" as Google Earth or McCain. )
Also ! the "Jamie Farr in Quest For Fire" is completely obvious, but delivered and timed so perfectly that it smacks of prime MST ! . . . which reminds me, it's very satisfying that as Trace runs when first hearing their movie, Joel says "yeah, some of us have seen it" and Josh says "Well, I haven't" . . . . great !

I should have posted this when I saw the episode, but I really enjoyed it. I'm glad that CT decided to do this episode.
