I just heard about some people doing their own riffing on a movie, and thought some of you might be interested: Just kidding, I remember Queen S. mentioning doing this somewhere but I've forgotten where. I'm just curious who all's involved with it and when you'll be releasing it. I have no way to keep up with all the fan projects/iRiffs, but I'm curious about this one since it's some of you folks doing it.

I originally mentioned it on Forrestcrow and yeah, we've been working on it for a while now in secret (well sorta). We came out officially on the Rifftrax board today to start building up some hype.
Anyway yeah, Robyn and myself have gotten together to write for Catwoman, and she's almost done with her script. Hopefully we'll get to record it soon. I'm not sure exactly when it's going to be out but the ultimate goal is to hopefully have it out on or as close as possible to the day iRiffs launches.
But we'll keep you guys posted. We'll be sure to put up a YouTube sample and all that as we get closer to completion!

Hope it goes well, I'll be sure to check it out. I keep thinking about doing some public domain shorts riffing, but I never quite have the energy to tackle them.

As you can see we finally decided on a name. XD We were gonna call it "Please Give Us A Job Mike Nelson" but decided it was too long.

I remember joking about the name now, I'd forgotten.
If you don't mind my asking, do you two know what you're using to put together the youtube preview? I'm wondering about this, as it's the biggest obstacle to any possible future riffing of mine. I'm not too interesting in just doing an audio track right now; if I do decide to do anything, I'd want to mix my audio into a PD short to have a complete package.

I didn't complete the whole process, but I did practice with this a little bit the other day. What I was able to do was download a free trial of AoA DVD Ripper, which will allow you to choose what portion of a movie file you want to convert to AVI (I'm assuming you know how to rip a DVD to your computer - if not, the Rifftrax forum has an wonderful walkthrough on that in their reauthoring guide). The free trial only lets you do this for like 10 minutes of movie though, so to actually produce a longer short or a public domain movie, you would either have to buy it or look for a free option. So anyway, I put in what time I wanted the clip to start and what part I wanted to end and voila! Instant movie clip. From there I took my audio riff and my clip and stuck them together using Windows Movie Maker. I stopped after that, because the lines were a little off (that might have been because I was saying them too early though), but I assume after that you can just produce the video and put it up on YouTube.

I'm thinking about creating a Riff project with Anchan. We were thinking about having all the characters be female and riffing from a woman's point of view. I'm still working on the robot designs. I'll post them when I get the chance. I'm also trying to choose a good name. Some ideas I have are:
Cinema Society Theatre 3000 Pop Culture Theatre 3000 Cinematic Art Theatre 3000

Not only does the full name have a great flow to it & roll off the tongue, but it's CST3K !!

"CST3K" does sound pretty good. What names should I call the robots? In the place of Crow, I have "Kite." Any suggestions? remember I'm reversing all genders. So my version of Tom and Crow will be female, and [if a Gypsy-like character is included] Gypsy will be male.
The reason Anchan and I are in the process of something like this is because we both took the same film class in high school. It was very interesting. It would also be cool to show MST3K through the eyes of women
