I just finished my first viewing, and even tho' I don't really do reviews and synopsis, I just had to say that the superhero genre keeps getting better n' better. This was the best depiction yet that combines the realistic with the fantastic !

Yeah, I need to pick it up on DVD soon along with Speed Racer. But yeah, Iron Man really was a phenomenal movie. And hey, it totally reinvigorated Robert Downey Jr.'s career! I always like it when someone who is a total screw up can get their act together. When are we getting a sequel? Wonder when the Rifftrax for Iron Man is going to come out...that will surely be a work of art. ;D

I got my copy too, although I saw it once in the theaters. Really, there's only two minor flaws I can think of: 1. There is still a slight disconnect for me between Robert Downey Jr. and the wisecracking guy in the suit at the end. Don't get me wrong, Downey does a fantastic job. It's just that it seems his personality disappears a little bit into standard action guy at some points when he's in the Iron Man suit. 2. Jeff Bridges. He's fine as the villain for the most part, but at the end when he's battling Iron Man, I just can't get over his voice. It's the Dude, slowed down a bit. I just have a hard time seeing or hearing him as anything else.
These are minor flaws, though. It's my third favorite film of the year (just behind #2 WALL-E and #1 Dark Knight). In any other year, it and the Hulk would have made it a banner (ha!) year for superheroes. The Dark Knight came along, though - you haven't been around the other board all summer, but my appreciation of that film knows almost know bounds.

I really like the fact that he's concerned with the bigger picture of how several films will fit together, rather than making them up as he goes.
