I've unintentionally been on a Will Smith kick lately. Figuring I should have a flick on my iPod for my Austin flight, I randomly chose "Enemy of The State" ( which was "ok" ). 6 weeks ago I got Verizon Fios, which has "Movies On Demand" and I just watched "I Am Legend", which I thought was superb. And before "Crystal Skull" Tuesday, one of the endless previews was for Hancock<( that's a link `dere ). I just saw the teaser trailer too that some of you may have seen in theaters, and that doesn't get it across. But the link above is for the full trailer and this sure looks like it's not only a new superhero twist, and some new range for Smith, but it also looks like it was done just great. Looks like some hysterical eye-candy to me ! As far as "I Am Legend", I know a couple of y'all were iffy on it . . . I dunno', more and more I feel like one of the few humans left who doesn't find fault with nearly everything. Wow, Fisty getting banned may have effectively darkened my mood !!

I know almost nothing about this, but I'm going to see it. Oooh ! You must tell me . . you say " I know almost nothing about this" . . see ? right above in my quote ? . . . . c'mon, you said it !! . . . sorry, Fisty's still bitter and lashes out at the innocent. But anywhy, had you actually seen nothing of this and it was my link to the trailer that makes you say " but I'm going to see it" ? ( I just quoted you again now . . . tee-hee ) Really, you must tell me. As the apparent new Head of The Will Smith Fan Club, I get points I helped influence your plans . . . even slightyly !!

Well, no, I hadn't seen that preview yet, and it was much better than the teaser I'd seen as well, but I was already gonna see the film. That would have convinced me if I hadn't been set on it already, though.
And for what it's worth, I had a good time at I Am Legend - I don't think it was perfect (mainly the use of CGI baddies rather than prosthetic makeup spoiled the effect), but it was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. I thought Will Smith did a good job at carrying most of the movie himself.

The concensus over at the discussion board is that the first half or two-thirds is very funny and well done, but the conclusion leaves something to be desired. People have enjoyed it, and with this in mind, I still expect to have fun. I will probably see it later this weekend.

Just saw it tonight w/ brother Thom, and I liked it fine . . beginning to end.
There's nothing wrong with a film that goes for a tonal shift into "deeper waters" if they handle it well. And it can be a blockbuster type too, doesn't have to be French new-wave or such. I figure if life can go from wacky fun to serious jeopardy in a few hours, movies can follow that form too, All the reactions ( to this film & many others ) always make me think : "We whine if it's predictable, and we whine if it ain't !"
The movie didn't do anything outright bold or nuthin', and if they let me edit it there'd be a lot less hand-held camera bobbin'.
But overall i thought it was great, and the Tuesday night audience enjoyed it all the way thru . . . . too !
