Anchan goes ahead and smashes fashion rules in general. Oh and dances too! Who needs 'em?
White shoes in the winter? I've never heard of that. o__O I wear white sneakers all year round...I even used to wear them with a black T-shirt and black jeans (and sometimes with black socks XD!) Except when I'm wearing my sweet red Converses. >w< I'm notorious in my family for my bad fashion sense...I dunno how many times my mom used to tell me to go change before we left the house.
When I had my senior prom my mom wanted me to get a new dress, a long one. 'Cause you're supposed to wear a long dress to prom, I dunno. o__O It took some refusing to get her to let me wear my knee-length black one that I'd gotten the year before for a decent price, but I eventually went to the prom in that.
It's not like it really mattered...all me and my friends did at prom was sit in the back of the room and complain about the lame food and lame music and glare at people when they wanted us to come dance. XD (I promised one of my guy friends that if anyone asked me to dance I'd give them the finger, so he promptly asked me and I promptly did so. Sorry dude! XD;) I mean, I'm sure the other people there were having fun, but...we could have been someplace else, like at my house playing video games.

White shooooes! > Since we're going on evolution, Kat smashes the whole concept of high school dances to begin with. Specifically, it's the fact that my friends always tell me to go and tell me how lucky I am not to have a boyfriend, because they're (dances) are more fun without one. ...Says the people that have boyfriends. All the money and preparation that goes into attending a stupid dance...bah! I've only gone to one - freshman homecoming, and I got sick during the time and went home early. Didn't go to junior prom, most likely won't go to senior prom. Hell, my junior prom was spent with my senior friend at her house, in the basement, playing video games and messing around on the laptop and watching anime and bad morning television. Our prom was a month later, ACen. P:

If you can't convince her, maybe take the more sneaky route and initially wear the black flats to the dance, but have your white shoes in a bag and put them on once you get there. That might sound conniving...but you'd get to wear your shoes. ^^;;
On a personal note, I smash the fact that I have so many projects to be completed before the semester ends next week, and that this tremendous workload has to coincide with my dad visiting. I'd really much rather spend time with him than do a research paper on Fragile X syndrome for AP Biology, write up a full report on a study we did in Psych., or any of the other forms of torture that teachers decided to hoist upon us. ;____; I don't get to see my dad that often, and the fact that I have to spend the time he's here focusing on schoolwork really depresses me. :(

'Cause you're supposed to wear a long dress to prom, I dunno. o__O Dude, that happened with me too! I was originally gonna wear a short dress to this thing, but apparently you can't do that at prom. I can't even remember what I wore to my senior prom, but I'm 99% sure it doesn't matter. XD (It worked out though because I ended up with a really foxy red long dress, which kinda begs the question of why my shoes matter when they're gonna be mostly covered up anyway, but whatever.) If you can't convince her, maybe take the more sneaky route and initially wear the black flats to the dance, but have your white shoes in a bag and put them on once you get there. That might sound conniving...but you'd get to wear your shoes. ^^;; Except she's gonna be volunteering there. XP UGH, WHATEVER, I'm just gonna wear the stupid flats, I don't care anymore. I have better things to do than argue with my mom all day. But I swear if I see one, JUST ONE pair of white shoes at the dance, there will be hell to pay! B(

Didn't go to junior prom, most likely won't go to senior prom. Kat, I highly recommend that you go to your senior prom. I didn't have a date at my prom (in fact, I was ditched like three hours before) but I still had a great time. Even though my other friends had dates, there's just something really fun about getting all fancy with your pals just for one night. You can hang out in the basement any other day of the week. Obviously if it's really not your scene that's fine. But I'd just say that you shouldn't 100% rule it out. There's memories to be had there.

I'm uncomfortable at them and I hate dancing [y'know, grinding]. I would just drag everybody down if I went and didn't want to do anything, and I don't need my friends being guilty on me. P: It's not 100% ruled out - I said most likely, not completely - but at this point I'm going "meh". Money is also a factor for the fact that [don't hurt me] ACen is less than a month afterwards. An event that I know I'll have fun at and have amazing memories from is more important than something I'm leery about. I'm not girly in the least and just don't like this stuff. It's really that simple. Unfortunately, none of my friends are in the same boat. And again, they all have boyfriends. Seeing all the happy couples, or those who can easily pick up boys, just makes me more frustrated. Okay, somebody PLEASE stop me from watching Lovely Complex and therefore having even MORE angst piled on me. This blows. I'm glad I've got Movie Sign and Space Mutiny tonight. God I hate shoujo. Why isn't life a shoujo series. Rrrr.Kat smashes her angst.

Melati smashes Europe's rule over Africa and slavery.
"The African people are in trouble, so let's enslave them to make their lives better." ARRRGGHH!!!
Speaking of proms, I hate them. I just don't like being around a lot of people. The last time I went to a dance, I sat in a corner by myself and was hit on by a bunch of guys high on something. I did not attend my high school prom and I do not regret it in the least. Guys are very threatened by my feminism, I have not been asked out and have asked no one out. I suppose its kind of my fault for being so blunt, but I am too busy to deal with adolescent testosterone.

Calandra smash illnesses like strep and mono.
Well, the doctor pretty much ruled out strep, but he was wavering towards mono. It was flattering in an akward sort of way, though, because he had an intern with him, and he took great delight in making an example of my gunky, overswolen adnoids and painfully overtensioned eardrum.
As for proms, I didn't go to a one, and I have no regrets. We used to have these rec nights in middle school, which were no fun except for getting together with my friends and playing card games. And our school district is so small it has decided to collaborate with half a dozen neighboring districts to rent a place in Spokane, so instead of a Gar-Pal Prom, it's more like a Whitman County, minus Pullman and Colfax, Prom. I didn't go on the senior trip, either. Stayed home and played on the computer. Good times.

Aww, get well soon, Calandra~ As a sufferer of chronic sinus infections, I can totally sympathize with the "...overswolen adnoids and painfully overtensioned eardrum." No fun at all. D;
Tonight, Spooky will be again be smashing this final week of the semester, in which all teachers simultaneously go insane and assign you 7,943,853,095 projects. :P

Melati smashes racism and the "end of white America." I read this article that was bitching about white students feeling racially pressured. Gimme a break! We whites are responsible for wiping out the Native Americans and indigenous people of South America, and WE'RE feeling racially pressured? Please! "White" is the most common "race" ever, and skin color is the least of our worries. What kind of racist jerk would write something like that? Its in the issue of The Atlantic if anyone's interested

My sympathies...I've lost quite a few family members to cancer. (Although they were longtime smokers, that's why...if there were a way to rid this world of tobacco...>__<)

That's just awful, Crowfan. Especially when it's so sudden like that. I agree, Anchan...if all the tobacco in the world would magically disappear, I'd be a very happy child.

Melati smashes cancer and cigarettes. Also, Melati smashes alcohol, especially absinthe. That stuff is so strong it can literally REMOVE one or more of your senses.

Missblacktop smashes children outliving their parents. There's a really sweet freshman on my hall (actually, the ONLY sweet freshman) whose mother died this afternoon...I'm trying to think of something we can do for her as a hall...:'[
