Well, we can always pray for a miracle and hope you become uber-confident and suddenly start having delusions that you and Joel are bestest buddies. And hey, maybe he'll remember you! He did save your life after all...I mean, that's gotta be a conversation starter!

Ask for his hand in marriage perhaps? No, no, no, no, no, he's married already. Tsk.

LOL, we can't ask for his hand in marriage, yet it's okay if we ask him for the key to his hotel room. Whatcha think we'd do in there, watch TV?

What, YOUR Joel fantasies don't have the both of you lounging on a couch watching reruns of "According to Jim"? Pfft, we are so not on the same page. Anyway, I need to ask your guys' opinion about something... See, I got to talk to Frank (like, actually talk, not stutter like a dope and stare at the floor) the few times that I went to the Cartoon Dump live shows, and to the surprise of no one, he's extremely friendly and nice. The first time we talked, we ended up exchanging emails. This was back in September. I've emailed him exactly twice since then - the first shortly after Cinematic Titanic was announced, to congratulate him and wish him luck, the second to let him know I probably wouldn't be able to go to the shows 'cause of work, and to suggest that they show the bicycle safety short "One Got Fat", which isn't a cartoon but maybe they could make an exception 'cause it's narrated by the guy who would narrate "Fractured Fairy Tales" (this was before RiffTrax riffed it, which I was absurdly happy about, and highly recommend if you haven't seen it). ANYWAY, don't get the idea that we're best friends or something, 'cause we're totally not, but he might recognize me at the con if I were to remind him of my existence, so should I email him and let him know I'm going, or would that be inappropriate? Am I overthinking this? And if you're wondering why the hell I didn't mention this before, well, with all the excitement over Cinematic Titanic, I guess i was worried people might push me to email him with a bunch of questions, and I didn't wanna be a bother.

I don't see that you're overthinking it a bit. You've got a good handle on it, what with emailing to say you couldn't attend . . plus holding off on the reveal to MSTys because you knew damn well you'd be flooded with "ooh, ooh . . . please tell Frank things !"
Another email to say you "hope to see him" when you're likely to is a perfect re-introduction. Then you'd include a link to some of the juiciest "when we corner Joel" posts around here and he can warn the other Titans & get the restraining orders going in plenty of time !
That's the kind of considerate fans we are.

Wow, you have Frank's email? How the hell did you manage that one? That is soo cool! I hope you appreciate how lucky you are to live so close to some of the Titans! ;D
Now about your problem. You mentioned that you've emailed him twice...did he write you back both times? If so, I don't think it would be the end of the world if you emailed him, but if it's been a while since there was any correspondence it might be a little...meh.
My gut tells me to avoid emailing though.
But then again, he DID give you his email, which seems unprecedented! Joel would never, ever do something like that!
If you've gone to multiple Cartoon Dumps, and been able to talk to him each time, it's a safe bet that he'll remember you at the con, which would mean that emailing him would be unnecessary. Even if you did email him, it would just be to say that you're going, and if he responded, it couldn't be more complex than a generic "Cool, see you there" type thing.
Overall I feel like an email in that case wouldn't be needed. And who's to say that even if you emailed him he'd remember what you look like? So in that instance, and email wouldn't help anyway.
I just don't know. I'm torn. But I think I'm gonna say no. Of course, this is only one opinion, and you know more about the situation than I do.
Sorry if i just ended up making the choice worse for you, lol. ;D

Wow, you have Frank's email? How the hell did you manage that one? With my feminine wiles? XD I think it's just something he does so there's a better chance people will come back to the show, 'cause a week later I got a email from him: Hi, Jenna --
I've been busy all week so I didn't get a chance until now to thank you for coming to the show and supporting Cartoon Dump. It was great meeting you; you seem like a really cool and interesting person. Hope all is well with you and I hope I see you again soon. Thanks again!
Best, Frank ConniffIt probably helped that I managed to act like a half-way normal person around him, rather than a fan - I don't think I even mentioned MST3K the first time we spoke...I can't remember WHAT the hell we talked about, but it wasn't MST3K. And he did respond amicably to my emails to him. But I think Queenie's right - it's not like throwing an email at him would help either way, I'll just say hi at the con and mention the shows and see how it goes from there. It seems pretty simple now - I don't even know why I brought it up. XP

LOL, that'd be pretty cool actually, but I'm flying over there on Friday - I managed to snag a room at the Marriot, and I'll be staying there for the weekend. When are you planning on getting there? The MST3K thing on Saturday is at 4PM, so we should be able to find each other before then. ;D Uh...sometime between 2 and 3? <__< (I have my stupid Political Science final at 1 and that hopefully won't take more than an hour!) Do you think there'll be a really long line outside the panel room? I hope not... That's awesome that Frank gave you his email! He sounds so approachable and easy to talk to...unlike some people. XD;

It's possible that there'll be a long line - but if so I should be able to get in it early. I just got to the Marriot and it's like, literally right next to the Covention Center. So if you and your friend are running late or whatever you can just cut in with me. Should we exchange cell #'s or something so we have a better chance of finding each other?
Anyway, I'll try to report back to you guys as often as my shaky internet connection permits. I'm so excited, I hope I manage to get some sleep tonight! XD

I haven't been there yet, but it kinda looks like a giant stadium/greenhouse. o__O sanjose.org/meetings/facilities/southhall.phpHaving cell numbers might be a good idea...I was actually considering playing some "relevant" music on my recorder and being spotted that way! <__<; I probably won't get any sleep either...and not just 'cause of this heat. x__x

I'm seriously considering going to the Minneapolis show now...after meeting the Titans in San Jose I so wanna see them perform live! >o< I'll be living in a dorm that's within bus/light rail distance of an airport...and I have a pretty good-sized savings now so I could maybe afford the trip... I've never flown anywhere by myself though! And the farthest east I've ever been is TAHOE. XD;;; And hopefully I can get a good price and find a place to stay that's close.

Anchan, it would be awesome if you could make it out. I can just imagine how much you, me, and Robyn would tear up Minneapolis! We'd all be in the same boat when it comes to going to a town we've never been to before, so we'd at least have safety in numbers. If anything, it will give us a chance to wear your new line of Fangirl T-shirts!

That would be awesome to meet all you people from the boards! ;o; Have they still not released the specific dates of the shows other than sometime in October? Maybe that will come in a later newsletter...
(oh wait...it's the 25th. dangit. XD) Hopefully plane tickets/hotel rooms will be cheaper closer to that date!

Yes, I first registered at the forrestcrow board (Under the name "Rowsdower85") and found this forum after clicking Queen Shadowrama's sig line. I also belong to a Yahoo! MST group as well.

No one is posting in the Minneapolis trip thread on the other board... My mom has recently transitioned from rolling her eyes at me when I bring this up to actually helping me plan! XD; She says it's a good idea to try to time our flights and meet at MSP airport if we're going to meet... (is way too excited about this...they're not even selling tickets yet -__-)

Yeah, it's hard to plan something definitively until we know when tickets go on sale. I wanted to bring up the subject just to get people thinking about it. But until we get some idea when the tickets go on sale it'll be hard to plan, especially since we haven't heard anything from the Titans themselves about it for a long time. I hope the show is still on!
